TEC is a not for profit environmental community hub and has been an environmental advocate in the Tairawhiti region since 1990. TEC is a portal for environmental sustainability information and education, we run environmental and conservation outreach projects, workshops and host various networking functions.
We collaborate strongly with like minded groups and organisations and provide environmental action opportunities and projects throughout Tairawhiti. We also provide a dedicated umbrella and conduit to various like minded groups. We are able provide broad cross party support, to multiple volunteer based projects where collaboration with GDC, DOC, Iwi/Hapu and Mana Whenua is vital.
We are run by and for Tairawhiti people to help strengthen our community and provide a sustainable future for all, we advocate on behalf of the environment and showcase environmental and conservation projects that are run by many valued groups throughout Tairawhiti.
Onsite we provide a recycling depot for batteries, light bulbs, Colgate; tooth brushes, tubes, floss etc, GLAD; Cling Wrap, bags, containers and dispensers, Nescafe; Coffee Capsules, Pouches and Suckies. We also run a number of social enterprises to help fund our quest and are supported by a valued growing membership. We welcome new members and sponsorship, so if you care about the environment and would like to support us in our mission, please become a member or sponsor to help us keep up the good work.
We are an ‘environment for connections’; connecting thinking and ideas (Ecosystem Education), connecting people and organisations (Collab Space), and connecting to our place and its ecosystems (Ecosystem Experiences).
TEC is an environment that inspires and enables people to learn about our place and its ecosystems. We see the larger systems that surround us as sources of intelligence that can improve our thinking and living.
We welcome ideas for new projects and sponsorship initiatives so if you have something in mind, please get in touch – we would love to hear from you!
