Recycling Depot

Based in the TEC Hub, our recycling depot is open to the community, taking waste that can’t go into your weekly kerbside recycling.

Below is a full list of what we do and do not recycle:

Batteries

We take the following kinds of batteries: Lithium polymer, lithium ion, lithium ion phosphate, button cell, coin cell, nickel cadmium, and alkaline batteries. This includes rechargeable batteries. We accept household batteries of all sizes. We do not recycle car batteries.

Batteries must not go in the bin. The chemicals in batteries can be very dangerous if not disposed of correctly. If you have questions about battery recycling or disposal, please contact us.

Tetra Paks

We take all Tetra Pak products. Tetra Paks must be fully cut open, laid flat, with the cap screwed on. It must be washed and cleaned, if it is dirty it cannot be recycled.

E-waste

We accept the following E-waste; mobile phones, landline phones, computers, laptops, computer monitors, cables and chargers, home printers, internet router boxes, remote controls, keyboards and mice, etc. Most office type E-waste is accepted.

We do not take household appliances such as microwaves or kettles.

Please contact us if you are unsure about E-waste recycling

Light bulbs

We accept compact fluorescent bulbs and tubes for recycling

Aluminium

We recycle all kinds of aluminium lids and caps (from wine bottles, olive oil, soft drinks etc), foil and trays.

Everything must be washed and clean. If it is unclean, we cannot accept it.

Steel

We accept all small steel items, primarily jar lids. If you are unsure if an item is steel or not, test it with a magnet. Steel is magnetic, most other common household metal waste (i.e. aluminium) is not.

Razors

All kinds of disposable razors, and their packaging, are accepted for recycling. Please make sure they are washed and clean.

Toothpaste tubes and brushes

We accept Colgate brand toothpaste tubes and toothbrushes

Ink cartridges and toners

All brands of ink cartridges and toners are accepted for recycling

We do not accept industrial ink cartridges and toners

Coffee pods

We accept aluminium Nescafe Nespresso pods, and plastic Moccona L’Or capsules for recycling

We do not recycle:

  • Any regular kerbside recycling: paper and cardboard, plastics, drinks cans, etc
  • Soft plastics – these can be recycled at Woolworths, The Warehouse and Pak ‘n’ Save
  • Plant pots – most plastic plant pots can be recycled at Mitre10 or Bunnings
  • TVs (if flatscreen, these can go to Metal Co on Stanley Road)

Please contact us if you have questions about the items we recycle. If we can’t recycle something, we may be able to point you towards another organisation that can help.

Contact GDC for advice on unrecyclable waste.
